Why is my RO system taking so long to refill?

Possible cause: Pre-filters are plugged or restricted.

There are typically two or three pre-filters on the RO systems. If one of these is plugged or is restricted it could affect the RO system output.

How do I check my RO system pre-filters?

1

Turn off the inlet water to the RO system and to the RO system storage tank

test the test

2

Open the faucet and release the pressure on the system until the water stops flowing

3

Remove the hose from the inlet on the membrane filter

4

Hold the hose over a bucket and turn the inlet water to the system back on

There should be full pressure coming from the hose. If it is restricted in any way there is a pre-filter plugged.

5

Replace the restricted or plugged pre-filters and turn the water and storage tank back on

If this problem occurs more than once a year the frequency of filter change may need to be increased or there may be a need for some pretreatment of the water prior to the RO system.
